About Spot Digger
Where it started
Spot Digger started as a mobile app for skateboarders and snowboarders — a Finnish-built platform where riders could find, share and rate the best spots. Professional snowboarders Eero Ettala and Fredu Sirviö were among the faces behind it, and backed by Samsung, it was celebrated as one of the most promising Finnish mobile services of its time. It brought together a community of people who all shared the same instinct: always looking for the next great place.
The idea was simple. The best spots are rarely on the map. You find them by moving, exploring and paying attention.
That idea never went away.
Years passed. But the concept kept coming back — quietly brewing, waiting for the right moment. Now it's time to bring it back, bigger and for a wider world.
Spot Digger — the new chapter
Whether you're a photographer hunting for the perfect light, a filmmaker searching for an untouched location, a traveller who wants to go somewhere worth going — or anyone who's ever slowed down on a road because something just looked right — this is for you.
Save your spots. Organize them. Share them. Come back to them.
About Pasi Salminen
The new Spot Digger is built by Pasi Salminen — Finnish photographer, filmmaker and producer with over 20 years of professional experience creating visual content around the world.
Originally known for his snowboarding and outdoor photography, Pasi has spent decades exploring remote roads, hidden viewpoints and places that never make it into guidebooks. For years he has also roamed forests, climbed hillsides and wandered mountain trails with his kids — always searching for that one perfect spot where the light, the landscape and the moment all line up.
Spot Digger grew from a simple need: a better way to save, organize and revisit the locations worth stopping for.
Today he works across commercial productions, events, brand storytelling and location-based visual projects — always with a camera nearby and an eye for light, access and atmosphere.
When not working, you'll most likely find him somewhere in the Nordics chasing weather, landscapes and the next unforgettable roadside stop.
