Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Spot Digger collects, how we use it and the rights you have over it. We aim to keep things simple and aligned with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What data we collect
Account data. When you create an account we collect your email address, chosen display name and a hashed password (or, for social logins, the identifier returned by your provider).
Uploaded content. Photos, videos, descriptions, tags and notes you upload.
Location coordinates. The latitude and longitude you attach to spots. We do not collect your device's live GPS location unless you explicitly use a "use my location" feature.
Usage data. Basic analytics such as pages visited, device type, browser and approximate region, used to improve the Service.
Cookies. We use cookies (or similar local storage) that are strictly necessary for sign-in and preferences. Optional analytics cookies may be used to understand usage patterns.
Third-party services
We rely on trusted providers for hosting, authentication, storage, maps and analytics. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms.
How we use your data
- To operate, maintain and improve the Service.
- To display your content to you and, for public spots, to other users.
- To communicate with you about your account or important changes.
- To prevent abuse and enforce our Terms.
- To promote the Service, including showcasing public content in marketing.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, correct, export and delete your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Deleting your account and data
You can request deletion of your account and personal data at any time by emailing spotdigger@hires.fi. We will delete your account and associated personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are legally required to retain it.
Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed to provide the Service or to meet legal obligations. Deleted content is removed from active systems and from backups within a reasonable timeframe.
Children
The Service is not intended for children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
